Caring Across Generations responds to Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling anniversary
WASHINGTON D.C.—In response to the one-year anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision this week, Nicole Jorwic, Chief of Campaigns and Advocacy of Caring Across Generations, released the following statement:
“The one-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision is a bleak reminder of what’s at stake when politicians restrict abortion care: People lose the ability to control their lives, bodies, futures, and the chance to live with dignity.
“Abortion bans are detrimental to our health, our economic stability, and our ability to live a life of our choosing. The impact of abortion bans falls hardest on those already facing unequal barriers to care, especially young people, LGBTQ+ people, disabled people, and Black and Brown people. Everyone deserves the opportunity and means to care and make decisions for themselves, their families and futures – no matter what.
“The freedom to make our own decisions, define our own path in life, and safely care for our families and communities is vital to all of us. That means having the freedom to decide if and when we grow our family, how we define family, and how we care for our loved ones. We will continue to fight for a future where we all have the freedom to care for our loved ones with paid leave, affordable child care, home- and community-based care, and abortion care.”
