The #CareCantWait Summit will highlight the critical need for the Biden Administration and Congress to make significant federal investments in home and community based services, expand access to child care, and guarantee paid leave for all workers.

The summit will be broken into three main sessions, featuring panels, videos, musical performances and special guests across the #CareCantWait Summit’s two hour run time:

  1. Part One will celebrate and recognize the family caregivers and care workers who were on the front lines of risk in the past year.
  2. Part Two will center around people who are caregivers and the people who rely on their care, highlighting some incredible stories from across the country.
  3. Part Three will outline how caregiving is not just a personal responsibility, but a collective one – that requires collective investment for us all to thrive.

Last week, the #CareCantWait coalition launched a $20m effort to ensure that the Biden Administration and Congress include significant investments in America’s care infrastructure in the upcoming federal jobs, infrastructure and recovery package.  Specifically, the coalition is calling for:

  1. The investment of $400 billion in Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services to create over one million quality, union protected direct care jobs, expanding access to home and community-based services to people with disabilities and aging adults, and support unpaid family caregivers so they can re-join the labor force.
  2. Passage of the Child Care for Working Families Act to ensure that no family pays more than 7% of their income for child care, invest in building an increased supply of high quality care, and increase workforce compensation and support, including a pathway to pay parity for early educators.
  3. Passage of Paid Family and Medical Leave Legislation that would ensure all working people have access to at least 12 weeks of paid leave to bond with a new child, address a personal or family related illness, or handle needs that arise from a military deployment.
