Care Can’t Wait Coalition Urges Congress to Immediately Pass Supplemental Funding for Child Care

WASHINGTON D.C. – Following President Biden’s Emergency Aid Request of $16 billion in childcare funding to Congress, The Care Can’t Wait Coalition urges swift Congressional action to fund critical childcare services.

Below is a statement from the Care Can’t Wait Coalition:

“Failing to prevent the child care cliff last month is already causing alarming consequences for children and their families, caregivers, child care workers and providers, and communities across the country. Each day that passes without funding is causing more and more harm.

“Families are facing economic instability, children are experiencing disruptions in their care, and the invaluable childcare workforce is facing impossible choices between closing, laying off staff, and raising prices for the families they serve. The clock is ticking for our families and our economy—and we cannot wait any longer to act on this crisis.

“The continuing gamesmanship in Congress is putting livelihoods at risk. For far too long, too many politicians have overlooked child care and the parents and children who rely on it.

“The Biden administration has made it clear that we can’t continue to leave families behind. It is imperative that Congress immediately pass the supplemental funding for child care to maintain the positive progress achieved with childcare relief.”
