We are proud to announce the launch of the CREATIVE CARE COUNCIL! LEARN MORE
Caring Across Generations, a national movement of families, caregivers, people with disabilities and aging Americans working to transform the way we care in this country, joins the more than 700 groups and individuals supporting the “We Are Better Than This” campaign, calling for an end to rising hate and divisiveness in public discourse.
A full-page ad in today’s New York Times was signed by a large and still-growing coalition of organizations and individuals, including the National Domestic Workers Alliance and Jobs With Justice (which are co-anchors of Caring Across), United We Dream, Center for Community Change, NARAL Pro-Choice America, Arab-American Association of New York, SEIU, Color of Change and MoveOn.org.
Representing a broad range of communities and perspectives, the signers are calling upon elected officials, public voices, and the media to “stop the spread of hate and division” as the United States faces a rising tide of Islamophobia, racism, and fear-baiting, giving rise to violence seemingly fueled and spurred on by this dangerous rhetoric.
With the enormous challenges ahead of us to shape a more positive future for generations to come – one that honors the tremendous contributions of immigrants, who founded this country; ensures the safety and security of all Americans, especially Black and Arab and Muslim individuals; recognizes gender equality in every sphere of life; and prepares to care for our nation’s most rapidly growing population, our elders over the age of 85 – enough is enough. We need leadership focused on creating a culture grounded in the values of care, compassion, inclusivity, accountability and justice.
Caring Across Generations co-director and National Domestic Workers Alliance director Ai-jen Poo, one of the initiators of the ad, said, “In a week where Donald Trump says Muslims must be barred from America, and within weeks of horrific attacks, it’s a real ray of hope to see such a diverse array of Americans standing together to say clearly that we are better than this.”
